I think that: I ma not soft on crime but too often we here that punshment is the only answer to crime. Punishing someone admits that the crime has taken place - it is too late. If we talk about harsher deterants i may be in favour....jail would be a big deterant for me but not everyone.
Because: If someone is committing crime knowing they are going to be punished does not work. We need to educate people as to how they can acheive their goals in life without crime and anti-social behaviour. If they are an ongoing threat to society then lock them up and don't let them out til the threat has gone.
