I think that: It's time to dump student debtLabour and the Liberal Democrats have unleashed a debt monster on a generation of young Scots. This is bad news for Scotland’s economy and a barrier to Scottish success. With your help we can dump the debt.
Because: In 1999, average student loan debt was £2,500. Today, that debt is more than £11,000 and rising.
No wonder fewer young Scots are entering higher education. The number has dropped by over 2000 since 2001. This means fewer high-skilled workers in our economy and that doesn’t make sense. If Scotland is to prosper we must encourage young Scots to learn.
The SNP is determined to dump the student debt monster…and you can help.
With an SNP government led by Alex Salmond we will
- abolish tuition fees. We’ll get rid of the graduate endowment - the backdoor tuition fee.
- introduce grants to replace loans.
- write off the debt to the Student Loans Company for Scottish domiciled students.
