I think that: Doesn't actually help in the grand scheme.
Because: The money raised was not a fraction of that needed to improve poverty in the long run. While I maintain the intentions of those involved were noble, I beleive that the main strategy for rasing the cash (the texting in for tickets which automatically donated £3) would have an adverse effect. This is because by texting in the individual beleives he / she has done 'their bit' and pacifies them to taking any real action. Realistically even if the whole country texted this would not be enough money to tackle third world debt etc. Realistically instead of parting with a mere £3 to make ourselves feel better we would need to be far more pro - active. Realistically everyone would need to be like Bob Geldoff to see permanent, lasting changes. Realistically not many people can be arsed. Realistically not many want to be like Bob Geldoff.
