I think that: Someone got paid for producing a report for the NHS that says it's wrong to use words like mum, dad, husband, wife etc. for fear of offending - among others - gay people. What a load of rubbish! It's political correctness gone stark raving bonkers.
Because: This kind of nonsense is SO patronising to the people whose feelings they allegedly want to protect.
And EVERYONE comes from a mum and a dad, even if they're not part of a family unit for whatever reason, or out of a test tube.
By all means offer people the choice of how they wish to be referred to when in hospital - but don't fall for this stupid political correctness.
The NHS has far more immportant things to do, like improving hospital hygiene, cutting waiting lists, employing more midwives, ending the postcode lottery on drug treatments etc.
