I think that: According to the latest polls, 52% of English voters do not want a Scottish, Welsh or Irish prime minister. The general concensus seems to be that because these three home nations now have their own assemblies then they should not have a representitive in the upper echalons of the British governement. This would mean therefore in extention that there should only be English MPs at Westminster. This is in my opinion totally wrong. After all when the regional assemblies in England are up and running, does that mean an MP from say Manchester should not be PM as he does not have the south's interest at heart
Because: Without full devolution Scotland N. Ireland and Wales are still a representative part of the U.K., and as such should have representation at all levels of a U.K. parliament. Anyway apart from Brown and Reid, who is in the current Labour Party, could take over from Blair. John Prescott?
