I think that: Charging motorists per mile on the roads will do nothing to deal with congestion. Because: What is needed is serious investment by the Government in a proper integrated nationalised public transport network that is clean, efficient, gets people where they want to go when they want to go. Urban AND Rural. We already have sufficient roads. Let's have a really good network of buses and coaches 24/7 every day of the year. Let's renationalise the railways and cut the price of fares. It would pay for itself in so many ways if we actually got serious and invested big time in the public transport infrastructure. |
