I think that: Many people seem to think there should be a new election if Gordon Brown comes to power, but this isn't how our democracy works.
Because: The change wasn't unexpected - the Conservatives campaigned on the slogan 'vote Blair, get Brown' last time, before dropping it because it proved more popular! Unless you live in Sedgefield, you didn't vote for Blair anyway. Your vote is for a local MP, and s/he is still the person representing you. You don't directly determine who is PM - and you might as well say we should have another election had the Conservatives won!
